Jovana Tomin

I was just about to cry about the summer break being so close to its end, when I realized I needed to write a blog post. It's a bittersweet one cause I love that autumn is coming, but I am well scared of senior year. Anyway, let's put that aside for now.

○ August TV Show: Friends
Surprise, surprise, I started binge watching Friends again. I really don't thing I need to explain this one, but if you have never watched this show, you need to get all over it right now. Even, if you have watched Friends, do it again, why not?

○ August Movie: Walk of Shame
If you're looking for a good laugh, watch this movie cause it's hilarious. It's about a TV anchor who gets lost in LA after a one night stand and basically has the longest walk of shame ever. She stumbles upon a lot of shady people and gets in lots and lots of trouble. It might not sound like much, but it is really funny, hence why I've watched it twice...

○ August Book: Zoe Sugg - Girl Online
I finally got my hands on this book, so it's only right that I talk about it. It's basically a teen romance novel, but it also touches a lot on anxiety and panic attacks so that might be helpful to some. I wouldn't say it's the best piece of literature as it is a teen book, but it a really amusing weekend read. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose. Well done, Zoe.

○ August Album: Halsey - Badlands
If I could get married to an album, this would be it. It's the only thing I've been listening to lately, I am completely hooked. The whole album came out yesterday, if I'm not mistaken, and it is the bomb dot com. Halsey is a indie pop artist, so if that's something you're into, give it a listen. My fave songs from the album are Colors, Gasoline and Drive, but I love the rest of it a lot as well. Listen to it and you can thank me later.

That's it for this month's recommendations, I tried to refrain from writing too much, hope I succeeded. Enjoy, babes.

After watching a video on youtube and reading lots of blog posts about this, I decided to join in the fun - using coconut oil to grow eyelashes. Now, I've naturally got pretty long eyelashes, but I thought maybe they could become thicker or whatever. Basically, every night you're supposed to rub a bit of coconut oil onto the roots of you lashes. It's quick and simple, fuss free and said to be useful, so why not try it? I've also been using it on my eyebrows, but I don't know if that's gonna give any results. You're supposed to do this for a month in order to reach best results, so I'll do my best. Tonight will be the 5th night I've been doing this.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be updating you guys on the progress of this little project. I will try and take photos of the changes (if there are any) and compare them so that you can see what's going on. I encourage you guys to try it out too, cause you don't have anything to lose, really. We can go through it together. Or, you know, you can just follow my journey, whatever.
I'm gonna go now and I'll keep you posted. I think the next blog post will be a playlist for rainy days, just a warning.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been trying to keep my makeup quite minimal during these hellish days. The only thing I've been experimenting with is eyeshadow and that's why it won't be listed in this blog post, as for the rest, I've basically been doing the same thing. Here's what I've been using:

Warning: I am writing this blog post slightly overheated as I've just been sunbathing on my balcony, which probably wasn't the best idea I've had, so sorry if I seem delusional.
There's a whole bunch of products I'd like to try from NYX, so I thought I'd write them all down. If you've tried any of them, let me know if they're worth the hype.

○ Blush in Taupe - I don't use blushers, but I'd use this one for contouring as it's the perfect shade. I am really temped to go and buy it right now, but I'm not gonna make any rash decisions with this much Sun gone to my head.
○ Butter Lipstick in Licorice - I love purple lipsticks and I think they really suit me, I just with this one was matte.
○ Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm - it seems like the perfect 'your lips but better' shade. Or a Kylie Jenner one.
○ Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague - it just looks nice, doesn't it?
○ Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen - I NEED this for the winter, I'm obsessed with the shade.
○ Micro Brow Pencil - just seems like a really good brow product.
○ Eye Shadow Base - because I desperately need one.
○ Highlight & Contour Pro Palette - who doesn't need this, tho.
○ Makeup Setting Spray - cause it's summer and I'm oily.
○ Skin Elixir - Balance (Tea Tree) - because it's looks like my skin would enjoy it.

Those are my 10 most wanted products from NYX, if I get the chance to try some of them out, it won't go without a review, don't worry. As you can tell, I've got a bit of a thing for their lip products. Again, let me know your thought on these if you've tried them. Also, let me know if you're like me and can browse through their website for hours and hours.

July is over and, I'll be honest, that scares me a little. But let's put that aside and see the goodies I've got this month.
○ July Book: Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray
I'm sure everyone's heard of this book at least once. It's got three main characters: Basil Hallward - the artist, Lord Henry Wotton - the hedonist and Dorian Gray - the star of the show. Basically, Basil is fascinated by Dorian's beauty and paints a portrait of him, which later in the book becomes the mirror of Dorian's soul. He doesn't age, but the painting suffers changes because of his new found passion for a hedonistic lifestyle, which he was introduced to by Lord Henry. Henry and Basil are completely different characters, but they both have an influence on Dorian. However, Henry's theories and lifestyle have more of an impact on Dorian's behaviour throughout the book.
It's a very fun read, although it can be difficult at times. Also, the ending rocked my socks off, but I won't give it away. I think there are a lot of relatable quotes, and all in all it's a great book.
○ July TV Show: Brooklyn Nine Nine
This is a comedy revolving around a police precinct. It doesn't focus on the cases as much as it does on the detectives themselves and their personalities. There's Jake Peralta, who's the goofy one, Amy Santiago, who's a bit of a nerd, Rosa Diaz - the tough one, Charles Boyle - the awkward one, I guess and their captain Raymond Holt, who's very strict. I think I'm not doing it justice at all, but it had me screaming with laughter a lot of the time. They are all very witty, and their jokes are incredible. Search for it on tumblr, and you'll understand.
○ July Movie: Paper Towns
Obviously! I saw it yesterday and I loved it. Now, I do have to admit, there are a lot of differences between the book and the movies, but I think all the changes they made are very well incorporated into the story line. Of course, some bits could have stayed the same, so the changes can be a bit annoying, but if I were to look at it as separate from the book, it's amazing. Also, I loved the cast and I think that contributed to the quality of it. And, to be honest, I think it's a lot better than The Fault in Our Stars. All in all, I do recommend watching it.

Sorry if there's any weirdness in this blog post, I was majorly distracted by Drag Me Down (there's another recommendation).
