a skincare routine that my skin loves

I think after this post I'll be done with writing about skin, so just bear with me. I've been really enjoying the products I'm currently using so I thought I'd give them a shout-out. I'll show you both my morning and my nighttime routine in this post. Let's dig in.

First things first, after I wake up, I quickly wash my face with some warm water. If I'm feeling fancy, I'll use a cleanser, but I usually skip it as I can't be bothered with an extra step in the morning. Once my face is clean, I treat it with some of this Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer (review). I like this moisturizer because it leaves a slightly tingly feeling on my skin and that wakes me up a little bit and also it feels like it's actually doing something good for my skin. I don't know if it actually does mean the moisturizer is doing something, but I like to think it does. After my face is moisturized, I go ahead and slap on some foundation and the rest of my face, unless I'm feeling lazy and my skin is looking good.

Evening time is much more exciting as it's the time to clean the face thoroughly. The first thing I use if I'm removing my makeup after a long day is micellar water. I've tried a few different micellar waters and the pink Garnier one is my personal favourite. I use a few cotton pads to remove the bulk of my makeup.

However, that is not the end of the makeup-removal process. I don't trust micellar water completely and I can't rely solely on them to remove my makeup. That's why I love to go in with a cleanser. I've been using this one from Balea for the past few months. It's pretty gentle even though it has some exfoliation beads and I really enjoy using it. It has a nice, gentle smell and it feels quite soothing. I apply it onto the face brush and then I make sure to go over my entire face and really get all the last bits of foundation off of my skin. When you see the brown residue on your brush, you realize how important cleansing after micellar water is. If you skip this step, all the makeup that's settled into your pores will stay there and clog them. Nobody wants that. If I wore a particularly big amount of makeup that day, I will repeat this a few times or I'll use the brush with some Dove soap.

Once the face is clean and exfoliated, I like to do one more thing to make sure there's nothing left on my skin. I take a cotton pad and soak it with some active oxygen. Active oxygen is really good for disinfection. It's just a step that makes me feel like my skin truly is squeaky clean.

After I've completely stripped my skin, I need to rejuvenate it and put some life back into it. What I love to do is to dampen my face and apply a few drops of rose oil onto it. Rose oil is actually good for your skin, it helps with scars and has all sorts of benefits.

Because I feel bad that I spent so much time on removing dirt and dead skin cells off of my face, I like to treat my skin with some more moisture. That's why I use this Mixa Hyalurogel Light moisturizer after the oil. I've talked about this cream before and I have repurchased it four times in the span of two years. I can't live without it and I need to always have it handy.

If my skin is feeling irritated for some reason, it's inflamed or I'm breaking out, I like to apply a layer of aloe vera gel after I've moisturized. It calms the skin down and I feel like it does help with making the skin look better the next day. Maybe I'm delusional, though, who knows.
And finally, the last step! Spot treatment. Unfortunately, no matter how good my skin is, 98% of the time I have at least one spot that needs drying. I use a spot treatment I get in the pharmacy and it's something that my dermatologist recommended. It's a sulfur solution that's really good at making the spots go away quicker.
With that, I'm done and ready for bed. Unfortunately, I am not an expert in skincare and I can't guarantee that this would work for you the way it does for me. I try to stick to the products I know my skin loves and I don't like to experiment too much when it comes to skin. This routine currently seems to be working. If you have any skincare tips, please share.
