Maybelline Instant Anti Age Eraser Concealer

If you watch beauty gurus on YouTube and you don't live under a rock, you have heard about this concealer. I, too, have heard people talk about it (probably on a daily basis) for years. About two years ago, I got on the bandwagon and tried this concealer for the first time. It's safe to say I never looked back - this is my fourth bottle.
To be completely honest, the thing that got me obsessed with this product is the shade. I've always wanted to be one of those girls who only apply concealer on their problem areas and they're ready to go, but none of my concealers have ever matched my skin well enough. However, the shade 01 LIGHT of this baby is the per-fect fit! On hot summer days, this is the only thing that I use on my face to look a bit more human (powder is of course obligatory when you're an oily mess like me). Trust me, once you get over the initial skepticism (and possible disgust) about the applicator, you will LOVE this product. I hope.
The applicator, I'll admit, is a little bit gross when it's been used for a while, however, it makes the application process very quick and easy. I apply it under my eyes to try and cover up my lack of sleep and genetic dark circles as best as I can and then I add some on my nose, chin and between my brows. To be honest, I probably get a little bit carried away and feel like I'm coloring in my face, but that's a whole different subject. I love to blend it out with a beauty blender for a seamless, natural look or with a dense buffing brush when I'm going for a bit more coverage.
I would say the coverage of this concealer is medium and I do find myself adding an extra layer on my under-eyes (thanks, dad, for the gift of dark circles). The finish is satin to matte, which is great for us oily people. It's very lightweight and you won't feel it on your skin. I do have to say that if you have dry patches, try applying a bit more moisturizer on them to prevent the product from clinging to them, but I can't guarantee that it will work. I feel like it's definitely a bit more suitable for normal to oily skin, but if any of you have dry skin and love this product as well, let me know.
This product is THE best for days you want more of a natural look and don't want to drown your face in foundation. It's the perfect base product for summer days and a great ally for the days you need to hide the fact that you only got 3 hours of sleep.
What about you, are you a fan of this concealer? Tell me about your thoughts in the comments.

Mixa Hyalurogel Light Moisturizer

I know, I know, at this point everyone and their mum has written about the Mixa Hyalurogel Light cream. However, because I've been raving about it for years and I absolutely love it, I feel like it's only right that I tell you my story with it.

About 3 years ago, I went to a dermatologist hoping that he'd finally fix my acne-prone skin for good. Though that didn't exactly work, there's one great thing that came out of spending a tone of money on visiting the dermatologist - this gorgeous moisturizer. After treating my skin with a bunch of drying products for months in an attempt to get rid of my acne, he finally recommended using the Mixa Hyalurogel Light cream as my daily moisturizer. As I said, that was about 3 years ago and I'm still repurchasing this baby and using it religiously!

Mixa Hyalurogel Light is enriched with hyaluronic acid which your skin needs and it is aimed at sensitive normal and dehydrated skin. It's no secret that our skin needs a lot of hydration and that hyaluronic acid is a very desirable ingredient for that purpose. Hyaluronic acid is a component of the skin that keeps it looking plump and prevents moisture loss. That's why you should bring it back to the skin after using drying products. And while there are serums that contain a bigger amount of HA than this moisturizer, it's still an amazing product to add into your routine. Trust me, I've persuaded practically everyone I know to start using this cream and I haven't heard one complaint yet! Everyone loves this little gem.

I am obsessed with this cream. It smells absolutely divine, it's incredibly lightweight and it feels very refreshing on the skin. Every night (and morning sometimes) I cannot wait to lather it all over my face. It simply feels amazing - kind of like giving your skin a glass of water.

There are two versions of this cream - light and rich. Because I'm an oily mess, I stick to using the light version with 7% glycerin. However, if your skin is on the drier side, you can go for the rich one with 10% glycerin. My friend who's got much drier skin than me loves the rich version, so it's definitely worth a shot. Choose according to your skin's needs.

As with any other skincare item, I can't vouch for its effects and claim that it will help your skin, as skin is a very touchy subject matter. All I can say is that it's a very pleasant, enjoyable product that hasn't given me any problems. And let me tell you, my skin is prone to bad reactions (acne) when it doesn't like a product. Tell me about your experience with this baby. Is the Mixa Hyalurogel Light your fave as well or do you have a different holy grail moisturizer?

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation

I really wanted to love this foundation. I gave it so many chances I felt like I was in a toxic relationship with it. In all seriousness though, I tried applying it in many different ways, but it's just not for me. Here's what happened between us.

When it acted weird after being applied on top of my SPF, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't mix with SPF, okay, many foundations don't. I decided to give it a second chance.

The next time I used it over my hydrating moisturizer and applied it with a brush. I was blown away by its coverage - it can cover up your dark past, hangover, lack of sleep and anything else. However, when I saw it in better lighting, I realized that it hadn't blended into my skin and that it looked pretty cakey. So, I decided to blend it in with a beauty blender. What a mistake! The sponge literally REMOVED the foundation off my face. I was left with red patches with no foundation. Obviously, I had to take it off. But I didn't give up. I gave it a third chance.

This time, our on-and-off relationship looked hopeful. I applied it with a brush after hydrating my face to the max. It blended okay, covered everything up and I started believing it had changed. But turns out, you can't change a foundation. Once I analyzed it closely, I saw everything that went wrong. For one, it settled into all the fine lines under my eyes and made me look like a grandma. Other than that, it clung to the dry spots I didn't know I had. It clung to every imperfection on my skin and highlighted it. But I put the rest of my makeup on and hoped for the best. I wore it the entire night and only looked at my face once I got home. My face looked cakey, the foundation was kind of ~clumpy~. I can't describe it precisely, but it looked bad. That was the last straw. I decided it was time to break up.

These are the three attempts of making The Ordinary Coverage Foundation work that really stick out in my brain. There were a few others, but you can see the pattern.

I really thought it would be a good fit, given that my skin is oily and I love a high coverage foundation. However, things aren't always what you expect them to be. I think this foundation might work for someone with VERY oily skin and no signs of dry patches. Tell me, did you have a better experience? Have you found a way to successfully use this foundation? I don't know if I'd be willing to use it again, but maybe I could be persuaded to try something else to make it work. Give me your tips if you have them!
